Make this: pumpkin chocolate chip cookies

Cold early mornings produce lots of cozy baked goods in my house. After watching Dora the Explorer, both my kids beg to bake chocolate chip cookies almost every morning. To add a seasonal healthy twist to chocolate chip cookies, I use pumpkin instead of butter and whole wheat flour instead of white flour. These heavenly cookies are moist and delicious!

I like to turn baking into an activity for everyone in the family to participate in. My son stirs the ingredients until his arm tires while my daughter adds the ingredients. We bake in perfect harmony! We discuss measurements and practice math skills.

While the cool air keeps us baking inside, there is no better way to start the day—together!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 15oz or 1 can pure pumpkin
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup low fat milk
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • baking spray


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine all ingredients.
  3. Bake for 12-14 minutes.
