Playdate of the Month: New Year's Eve Family Playdate!

Written by: Anne Book

New Years Eve is such a great night to stay IN! The Holidays are over, and the kids have been out of school for what feels like forever.  Use the New Year's Eve celebration and the perfect way to get together with good friends.  Skip the expensive night out, wrangling for a last-minute sitter, and those not-so-easy to find taxis.

Why not invite the entire gang, your friends big and little, for a New Year’s Eve family style party? Choose a few activities from our list below and make it as easy or as chic as you like! A pot luck party with each family brining a course, or an appetizer would be great, or you can plan a more sophisticated menu and invite your friends to all cook together while the kids play and craft.

Here are a few things to buy or make:

  • Noise makers/Party Blowers
  • Hats
  • Paper Plate Clocks - fun number stickers and easy art supplies
  • Streamers and Confetti (if it is easy to clean up)
  • Cute Custom Cups- let them decorate plastic champagne flutes with letters, numbers, 2012 stickers, etc.

Include your littlest ones in the decorating, shopping, and prep work. A sticker and crafting station, nail painting with glitter, little passing trays with food that they helped to make are all fun ways to get them excited for the big countdown!

Whether you dress up, or wear your jammies and jeans you can create a fun New Year’s Eve party that includes everyone with a memorable start to the New Year!

5-4-3-2-1- watch the ball drop with some family and friends fun! Start a fantastic new holiday play date tradition!
