As parents, we are wired to be vigilant—it’s part of how we keep our children safe and supported.
But when that vigilance tips into hypervigilance, it can hijack our nervous system and make it harder to respond with wisdom, patience, and calm.
There’s a time and a place for vigilance. The key is keeping it out of the driver’s seat so it helps, not harms, your capacity to respond wisely.
Join Family-Wellbeing Coach™ Sheryl Stoller for this beloved session from the ABC™ Framework series—exploring not only Compassion, but the other “C’s” it unlocks: Curiosity, Creativity, Clarity, and Conduct.
You may already recognize that the parts of you that feel overbearing or anxious are actually trying to protect you.
Self-compassion helps those parts trust that you’ve heard their message—and that you’re on it.
Yet, resistance to self-compassion often shows up early, often, and intensely. Together, we’ll explore how to move through that resistance and access calm, connected clarity.
You’ll discover:
- How compassion for your patterns of reactivity (various inner Saboteur modes) opens the door to healing, not hijacking
- The framework for recognizing and intervening early when reactive patterns arise in parenting
- How to tell when your vigilance is in “hyper mode,” harming more than helping
- A simple shift to move from internal chaos to calm clarity
- Why self-compassion is the foundation for creative problem-solving and choosing actions that serve your family—both short- and long-term
You’ll leave with a greater understanding of your protective parts and a new way to partner with them—so you can show up for your family from your Essence Self, not survival mode.
