Great playgrounds for Crawlers (and new walkers)

Whether it is your first child, or 5th, and when your crawler wants (and needs!) to play in a safe, outdoor space, these playgrounds are great options to check out to let your newly mobile kiddo(s) explore and play.  All have a soft rubber surface (forget mulch chips at this age as they only end up in their mouths!) and safe, fun and unique options to keep all ages entertained.

As this well deserved summer finally gets into full swing, try to check out a few, or save these playgrounds ...

Why I Love Being a South Loop Mom

I grew up on the city’s north side and honestly never imagined I would be living nor raising my two children in the South Loop.  Yet here we are, just south of Roosevelt Road on a tree-lined street that almost feels suburban until I look north and see the Chicago skyline.  And now I can’t imagine any other neighborhood feeling so right for my family.  I’m almost hesitant to share why I love it so much because family life in the South Loop seems to be one of the city’s best kept secrets.

Listen to Your Mother!

Living in the Chicagoland area, I often feel extremely blessed to have such a diverse selection of cultural and artistic events consistently available to me and my family. When my husband and I lived away from this area for only 9 months, I was shocked to discover that it is NOT the norm in small towns to be able to find an assortment of entertainment at a moment’s notice! Hence, the “9 months.”

It is with extreme honor that I am now a part of the theatrical force that Chicago possesse...

Being an Andersonville Mom...

When my husband and I bought our condo seven years ago, kids were the furthest thing from our minds.  Now with 2 year old twins we are finding that there are so many family-friendly reasons that our neighborhood rocks.  When I was asked to write a blog about why I like being a mom in Andersonville it didn’t take me long to create a list.  Chicago is a great place to raise a family and each neighborhood has something unique to offer families.  Here are the family-friendly discoveries I have...

Turn your Spring Cleaning Into Cash +GIVEAWAY!

During these challenging economic times, wouldn’t it be wonderful to help another family, and increase your own bottom line at the same time? Consider consigning your kid’s gently used items or shopping at a consignment event to save a lot of cash. Children grow fast! As “new parents”, we run out and buy all of the “must have” items for our babies. In almost no time at all, those same items are occupying “prime real estate” in our homes, and our kids have moved on to the next want/need pha...

Why I love being a mom in: Beverly

“Where is that”?  “Is that a suburb”?  These are often questions I get asked when I tell my fellow Chicagoans that I live in Beverly.  I was actually born and raised here, as were many generations of my husband’s and my family.  We can trace back over 3 generations of our ancestors who have called the Beverly/Morgan Park neighborhood “home”. This is truly one reason that this area is so unique.  You will find many families like my own.  My grandmother has been living in her house for over ...
