Our Staff & Volunteer Team

Our Team Neighborhood Parents Network of Chicago (NPN), formerly the Northside Parents Network, started as an all volunteer run organization. In 2001, NPN hired it first part-time Executive Director and a staff team was developed to support the growing membership and programs. Today, NPN is managed by a full-time Executive Director, a team of part-time Directors and Managers, and a group of amazing volunteers. Special thanks to Classic Kids Photography for providing these amazing photos!

Sarah Cobb – Executive Director

Sarah comes to NPN with a background of more than ten years in management, technology, and strategic project leadership. Every day she uses her experiences from PwC and Goldman Sachs to maximize the value and impact of NPN’s resources, partnerships, opportunities, mission, and to develop exciting ideas for the future. Sarah’s educational background includes a BS from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. In 2007, after the birth of her daughter, she immediately became an NPN member. As Board President, for two years, she quickly learned the importance of NPN to for so many expectant, new, and seasoned parents in Chicago. She is absolutely sure she would not have survived Avery's sleepless nights, endless spit up, and pacifier addiction without her New Moms Group and the friends she made through the Lakeview club! When she is not running to a meeting or squeezing in a quick jog on the lake path, you can find Sarah chasing after her husband, daughter, and boxer dog Sundae.

Melanie became involved with NPN shortly after the birth of her first child in 2007 as a member and volunteer. She is eternally grateful for the lasting friendships and support she received from her New Moms Group, and frequently relies on the invaluable tips and resources from NPN's Discussion Forum on topics ranging across the board. Beth Cohen-Dorfman - Program and New Moms Group Support
Beth has always been interested in helping young children and families and has a BS in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University. After graduating, she spent two and a half years utilizing her degree as a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Paraguay which was an incredible and life-changing experience. She also taught kindergarten at Lincoln Park Preparatory and was the first Curriculum Coordinator at Concordia Place preschool on Seeley before leaving the working world to become a full-time mom in December of 2006. She became a member of NPN in early 2007 and has benefited so much from her involvement in her New Moms' Group that spring. Since NPN was founded in 1980, by a team of pioneer parents that volunteered their time to develop NPN, we have been so lucky to keep volunteering as a core part of our community. Our volunteers run our social and support groups, lead neighborhood clubs, plan our annual Family Festival event, and make up a number of Board and topic specific committees. Their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment are unmatched and we are so grateful to each one of them!
